PNB In House Physical Workshop at Menara Merdeka 118Financial Planning for Millennials and Gen-Z - 12 June 2025
Welcome to the temporary home of simpan.my. While we're building something exciting, here’s some financial advice that sounds wrong but feels right for a fresh grad in Malaysia:
Skip the RM10 Latte... or Don't: You’ve been told that skipping coffee makes you a millionaire. It doesn't. It just makes you tired. Buy the coffee, but skip the "lifestyle creep" that makes you buy a car you can't afford just to drive to a job you don't like.
Invest in "Stupid" Things: At 23, your biggest asset isn't your EPF; it’s your brain. Spend money on a weird course, a flight to a random country, or a book that challenges you. The ROI on "Self" is higher than any fixed deposit.
The 50/30/20 Rule is Boring: Try the "Future You" tax. Before you pay your rent or your PTPTN, pay the person you’re going to be in 10 years. Even if it's just RM50 a month into a high-growth fund.
Embrace the Red: Seeing the market go down isn't a crisis; it's a clearance sale. If you're 24, you want the market to be messy so you can buy in cheap.
